Common requests
Leash Pulling
Does your dog drag you down the street on walks? Leash pulling can make walks stressful and frustrating. We focus on structured leash training to help your dog walk calmly by your side.
Reactivity on Walks
If your dog lunges, barks, or becomes overly excited around other dogs, people, or vehicles, reactivity training can help. We work on building focus, confidence, and impulse control to create more enjoyable walks.
General Obedience & Commands
Sit, stay, come—does your dog listen the first time? Whether you’re looking to reinforce the basics or teach advanced commands, we provide structured obedience training for better communication and reliability.
Crate Training
A crate should be a safe, comfortable space for your dog—not a source of stress. We help introduce or improve crate training, ensuring your dog sees it as a positive environment while reinforcing good habits.
Excessive Barking
Constant barking can be disruptive and challenging to manage. Whether it’s due to boredom, anxiety, or alert behavior, we address the root cause and implement strategies to promote calm, quiet behavior.
Aggression
Aggressive behavior toward people, dogs, or specific situations requires careful and experienced training. We focus on understanding triggers, building trust, and implementing structured behavior modification to create a safer, more balanced relationship.

Board and Train
Board and train programs for dogs are comprehensive training experiences that provide an ideal solution for busy pet owners seeking to enhance their canine companion's obedience and behavior. During these programs, dogs stay at a specialized training facility, where they receive professional guidance and instruction from experienced trainer. The dogs' days are structured with tailored training sessions, exercise, socialization, and appropriate rest periods. I work closely with each dog, addressing specific behavioral issues or focusing on obedience commands. This immersive environment enables dogs to develop crucial skills, such as leash manners, basic commands, and impulse control, while also working on more advanced training goals. Through consistent training, positive reinforcement, and individual attention, board and train programs offer a concentrated and effective way to transform a dog's behavior and instill lifelong obedience.

One-on-One Training Sessions
One-on-one sessions with a dog trainer provide a personalized and focused approach to addressing specific training needs and behavioral issues. These sessions offer a unique opportunity for pet owners to work closely with a professional trainer to better understand their dog's behavior and develop effective training techniques. The trainer assesses the dog's temperament, current skill level, and any problem areas, tailoring the training program accordingly. Through patient guidance, positive reinforcement, and clear communication, the trainer helps the dog and owner establish a strong bond and build trust. One-on-one sessions allow for individualized attention, enabling the trainer to address specific challenges and provide customized solutions. Whether it's teaching basic obedience commands, addressing leash pulling, or working on more advanced training goals, these sessions create a supportive and focused environment for both the dog and their owner to grow and succeed together.

FAQs
-
Each session costs $85. This includes personalized guidance based on your dog’s behavior, goals, and progress. Sessions are tailored to your dog’s needs and your lifestyle.
-
Each session is 30 minutes long. This is the optimal length to keep your dog focused and engaged, especially in the early stages of training.
-
I see the most success with 2–3 sessions per week, especially at the beginning of training when we're building momentum. However, I’m always flexible and happy to adjust the pace based on your schedule and your dog’s progress.
-
Yes! I offer a 10% discount when you purchase a 12-session package. It’s a great option if you're planning to commit to a more structured training plan.
-
Most owners begin to see significant improvement within 1–2 months, depending on how frequently we meet and how consistently you apply the training techniques at home. Long-term results come from repetition and teamwork between you and your dog.
-
On average, 10 sessions is a great starting point. However, this can vary based on the complexity of your dog’s behavior and how quickly you and your dog progress. We can reassess as we go to make sure the training plan fits your needs.
-
Yes, absolutely. In-home sessions can be a great addition to your dog’s training plan, especially if your dog struggles with travel or if you want help in your own environment.
Rates for in-house sessions range from $100–$120, depending on your location. -
I’m based in Nanaimo, BC, and I serve Nanaimo and surrounding areas. If you're nearby and not sure if you're within range—just reach out and ask!
-
Aim for about 30 minutes a day, broken into short, fun sessions. In the beginning, your dog’s attention span will be limited, so even 5-minute intervals can make a big impact. As your dog improves, they’ll be able to focus for longer stretches.
-
Absolutely! I love working with puppies. My puppy training covers:
Socialization and desensitization to places, sounds, and environments
Potty training and crate training
Leash walking and recall
Handling teething and chewing
Building confidence and trust
Foundations of obedience like sit, stay, and leave it
The goal is to help you raise a friendly, confident, and well-mannered dog right from the start.
-
Yes—this is actually my specialty. More than half of my clients come to me for help with reactivity or aggression. Whether your dog barks, lunges, or growls at people or other dogs, we’ll work together to reduce these behaviors and build a more manageable, confident dog.
-
Yes! It’s never too late to train your dog. Older dogs may take a little longer because certain habits are deeply ingrained, but with patience and consistency, we can absolutely see results. In fact, I recently trained a 7-year-old reactive dog to pass the BC service dog assessment—it took just two months.
-
Yes, excessive barking is a very common issue, and we’ll work together to identify the triggers and create a custom plan to address it. Often, barking comes from a place of confusion, anxiety, or overstimulation—we’ll target the root cause.
-
Yes! Leash pulling is one of the most common concerns I help with. You’ll learn techniques to improve your dog’s leash manners from the very first session. Many clients notice a big difference within just one week.
-
Yes, this is exactly the kind of issue I work with all the time. Reactivity on walks is stressful, but it’s fixable. I’ve helped many dog owners transform their stressful walks into peaceful ones. You’ll be surprised how quickly we can start making progress.
-
Dogs don’t forget what they’ve learned—but they can slip back into old habits if the training isn’t maintained. Consistency is key. A short break, like going on vacation or having a sitter for a few weeks, usually doesn’t undo progress—as long as you get back into routine when you're home.
-
Yes, I will begin offering service dog training starting September 2025. If you're interested in preparing your dog for future service work, we can start with foundation training now.
